巨大な蝉のような形をした異形。体長は約1.5メートルとされている。人間を見つけると即座に飛び立つため近づくことが難しい。その背部には複数の顔が浮かび上がっており、まるで手を合わせ祈りを捧げるような形をしている。古い文献には「神の死に寄り添い、その魂を悼むもの」と記されている。
その出現場所は“神が死んだ場所”と強く関連していると考えられている。
A grotesque entity resembling an enormous cicada, estimated to stand around 1.5 meters in length. Only a single individual has ever been confirmed. When it detects the presence of a human, it immediately takes flight, making close observation extremely difficult.
Multiple faces appear to emerge along its back, arranged as though it is clasping its hands in prayer. Ancient writings describe it as “a mourner of fallen gods, offering prayers for their lost souls.” Its sightings are strongly believed to be connected to places where a god has died.
古い書物には蝉の抜け殻のような異形の目撃情報が記されている。これは祈蝉と関係があるものと考えられている。
Old records describe sightings of a husk-like entity resembling a cicada’s shed skin, which is believed to be connected to Kisen.
過去に一度だけ祈蝉が道端で仰向けに倒れた状態で発見されたことがある。その個体は発見時には活動を停止していた。確認された個体は中身のない殻のように軽かったが、回収を試みる前に突然活動を再開し飛び立ったという。祈蝉が飛び立つとき、背中に付いた頭の一つが剥がれるように離れ、独りでに動き出して山奥へ消えていったという。
There has been only one recorded instance in which a Kisen was found lying on its back by the roadside. At the time of discovery, the specimen had ceased all activity. It was noted to be unnaturally light, like an empty husk; however, before it could be recovered, it suddenly resumed movement and took flight.
It is said that as the Kisen lifted off, one of the heads attached to its back peeled away, began moving on its own, and disappeared deep into the mountains.
